Take great photos
Photos are the first thing buyers look at.
Set the scene: shoot outside in daylight, on pavement, with nothing in the background to distract.
Clean it up: wash the vehicle and wipe down the tires and chrome first.
Start strong: use the driver's side and front corner as your cover photo.
Then add these shots:
Every side, with compartments closed and then open
The ladder raised, for aerials and ladder trucks
The cab and controls
The mileage gauge, without glare
Two undercarriage photos, using flash
Write a clear title
List the year, make, model, type, pump size and tank size. For example: 2008 Pierce Contender Pumper 1250 GPM 1000 Gal.
Fill in the key details
Buyers often filter by mileage, pump size and tank size, so fill in those fields to show up in more searches. For apparatus, include both the chassis year and the engine year.
Describe it honestly
Let buyers know:
Is it still in service, or recently retired?
Any rust, repairs or maintenance records?
Do the pump, generator, A/C and other systems work?
What equipment comes with it?
