Buy Now vs. Auction

Compare the two ways to sell and pick the one that works for you.

When you create a listing, you'll choose how buyers can purchase it. Not sure which to pick? Our team is happy to talk it through with you.

Buy Now

  • How it works: you set an asking price. Buyers can buy at that price or send you an offer.

  • Fees: It's free to list. When it sells through Garage, there is a 10% success fee applied to the final purchase price.

  • Great for: sellers who want a clear price with room to negotiate.

Auction

  • How it works: buyers place bids for 30 days. You set a minimum bid, which can't be changed once the auction is live.

  • Fees: the buyer pays a 10% buyer's premium on the winning bid, and the seller pays no fee.

  • Great for: sellers who want buyers to compete for their item or are comfortable letting the market set the price within a defined timeframe

If a sale comes from your auction after it ends, for example with one of its bidders, auction fees still apply.
