Title Transfers for Buyers

Updated over 3 months ago

Who handles the title transfer?
Title transfers are managed directly between the buyer and the seller. Garage does not play a role in this process, so it’s important that you confirm details with the seller before moving forward.

What buyers should do before purchasing:

  • Ask the seller if they have the title in their name/entity.

  • Request a copy of the title or confirmation of the current title holder to ensure there are no surprises later.

How title transfers typically happen:
After the purchase is confirmed, discuss with the seller how you’ll receive the title. There are two common methods:

  1. In the vehicle – The seller places the signed title in the glove compartment. You’ll receive it when you take delivery of the vehicle.

  2. By mail – The seller mails the signed title directly to your address after the sale.

👉 Tip: Make sure you and the seller are clear on which option will be used, and follow up promptly if you don’t receive the title as expected.
