The selling process for apparatus:
Your dedicated Purchase Manager
Every sale on Garage is assigned a dedicated Purchase Manager from our Operations team. They oversee your sale from offer accepted to payout received — coordinating behind the scenes so you don't have to.
You may not hear from them right away, and that's completely normal. Your Purchase Manager will reach out when there's something to flag, a next step to coordinate, or if your seller escrow account needs to be set up. Otherwise, trust that things are moving along and your sale is in good hands.
Seller Escrow Account
Make sure your escrow account is fully set up so you can receive payout when the time comes.
If your account is already set up — you're all good, no action needed!
If it isn't set up yet, Garage will reach out to guide you through it.
Bill of Sale
The Bill of Sale is the official record of your transaction on Garage. It's an important document, so please make sure to complete it promptly and double-check that all details are accurate before signing.
A couple of reasons this matters:
For sellers who are entities: this document may be required for auditing purposes, so having a clean, accurate record is especially important.
For buyers: they'll often need the Bill of Sale when registering the vehicle with the DMV, so any errors can cause real headaches down the line.
Pickup & Delivery
The buyer has three options for how they'll receive the vehicle. Here's what to expect for each:
Garage Freight
Garage Freight
We're arranging freight on the buyer's behalf. We'll only give the carrier the green light to coordinate pickup once the buyer's payment has fully cleared.
If you have any scheduling conflicts or availability constraints, let us know as early as possible so we can work around them.
We'll monitor the delivery on our end and keep things moving.
In-Person Pickup
In-Person Pickup
The buyer has chosen to pick up the vehicle themselves. Before anything is coordinated, we make sure payment is complete and the Bill of Sale is signed — so you're fully protected. Once both are confirmed, Garage will connect you and the buyer directly to arrange timing.
Let us know the pickup date so we can make sure your payout is processed on time!
External Freight
External Freight
The buyer is using their own freight carrier. Same as above — payment must be complete and the Bill of Sale signed before any coordination happens. Garage will then connect both parties to get things moving.
Once the vehicle is picked up, let us know! We'll follow up with the buyer on the delivery date and make sure your payout is processed as soon as we confirm receipt.
Getting Paid
We want to get you paid as quickly as possible! Payout is triggered once two things are confirmed:
The buyer has taken possession of the vehicle
Title transfer is verified — if you're the current title owner, you may need to complete the transfer process so the buyer can get the vehicle properly titled in their name. If the buyer chooses to waive the title transfer, we're good to move forward with payout right away.
A note on title: If you're mailing the title separately from the vehicle, send us a photo of it via email or text as confirmation of rightful ownership — this helps us move quickly on your payout without any delays.
Once both boxes are checked, funds will be processed and should land in your connected bank account within 1 business day.
